State Symbols of India

India has several state symbols that represent its cultural, historical, and natural identity. The state symbols of India include:

  1. State Emblem:
The State Emblem of India is an adaptation of the Lion Capital of Ashoka, an ancient sculpture. It features four Asiatic lions back-to-back mounted on a circular base. The words "Satyameva Jayate" (Truth Alone Triumphs) are inscribed below the emblem.
  1. State Flag:
Each state in India has its own flag, which often incorporates the state emblem or other regional symbols. However, the design and use of state flags are subject to certain guidelines to maintain uniformity with the national flag.
  1. State Anthem:
Some states have their own anthems that represent the cultural heritage and ethos of the state. However, the national anthem, "Jana Gana Mana," is common throughout India.
  1. State Animal:
Each state has its own designated state animal. For example, the Bengal Tiger is the state animal of West Bengal.
  1. State Bird:
Similarly, each state has a designated state bird. For instance, the Indian Roller is the state bird of Karnataka.
  1. State Flower:
States have their own state flowers. For example, the Lotus is the state flower of several states, including Haryana and Karnataka.
  1. State Tree:
States also have designated state trees. The Banyan tree is the state tree of several states, including Gujarat and Telangana.
  1. State River:
Some states have designated a specific river as their state river. For instance, the Yamuna is the state river of Delhi.
  1. State Dance:
Each state has its own traditional dance forms. For example, Bharatanatyam is the state dance of Tamil Nadu.
  1. State Festival:
States often designate a particular festival as their state festival. For instance, Diwali is the state festival of several states, including Uttar Pradesh.

It's important to note that while some symbols are common across multiple states, many states have unique symbols that reflect their individual cultural and natural heritage. The recognition and designation of state symbols are typically done by the respective state governments. Let us have a breif look at the state symbols of India:
