Causes of Air Pollution
· Smoke emitted by vehicles.
· Gases and smoke from factories.
· Bursting of fire crackers.
· Burning of garbage.
· Volcanic activity.
· Accidental fires and forest fires.
· Military uses, such as nuclear weapons and rocketry.
Causes of Water Pollution
· Silt and other suspended solids, such as wash off soil from ploughed fields, construction and loggings sites, urban areas and eroded river banks.
· Disposal of chemical industrial waste.
· Bathing, washing clothes, excreting in water.
· Immersion of ashes of the dead, the idols of god and goddesses in water.
· Effluent outfalls from factories, refineries, waste treatment plants, etc.
